Country specific Payment rules
Great Britain
Country specific information about our Payment Initiation API and its implementation rules.
General Information
Here you'll find useful information regarding our Payment Initiation API for Great Britain, such as country specific rules, the Implementation Guidelines for all the payment types and general rules for our payment products.
As we operate worldwide, the services we offer are tailored for each market, so it's important to bear in mind that there can be differences between all of the countries and their payment products.
SCA Methods
The strong customer authentication (SCA) methods and security solutions applicable for British customers are:
- Redirect: Digital ID, card reader and log-on card, with / without cable
Payment products
For Individual and Corporate banking customers, we offer Transfers to own accounts, Local Credit Payments, SEPA Credit Transfers and Cross-Border Payments.
Permission to make payments
For the end user / agent (PSU) to be able to make payments from the Corporate customer's account, they need to have the appropriate permissions as per the Corporate mandate. An end user's permissions can be updated by the Corporate customer's administrator in the Handelsbanken Online Banking services (e.g. under "Profile", then "Permission administration"). They then need to select "Permission by person" and select the name of the user. For our Payment Initiation API, the user needs to have the "Input" permission and if they need to execute payments, then they will need to be an authorised signatory.
Providing the user has the correct permission(s), they will be able to make payments in the Handelsbanken Online Banking services, as well as the Third Party Provider's services. If a PSU is unsure about their permissions, they need to contact their local branch.
Countersignature
If a countersignature for a payment is necessary as per the Corporate mandate, please advise the customer to action this within their Online Banking.
PSU-Corporate-ID
For Corporate customers, when sending in a request using our POST endpoint, you need to add a "PSU-Corporate-ID" into the header. For British Corporates, this is a 6 digit Handelsbanken customer number. As this number is often not known by the customer, to improve your user flow, we have added it into the GET/ accounts response where it is referred to as the "Corporate ID". Please note that the corporateID is only returned in the Accounts & Cards API GB (an API specific for Great Britain) and is not in the general Accounts API that supports all countries.
The Corporate ID number can also be found in the customer's Corporate Online Banking under the heading 'Account overview', but it means that the customer will need to retrieve it for you.
